though i work a bit differently with each client depending on the individual situation, there is a basic process at the core of clarity:
focus on one area or room at a time. get “clear” about that space before you move on to the next.
c = categorize
sort through your things. put everything that’s the same together; books, bills, jewelry, toys…
l = learn
what are your tendencies that create clutter? do you leave piles all over the place because you don’t know where to put things? do you frequently miss payments, misplace items or forget appointments because things are not in order?
e = edit
after you’ve categorized, go through each of the piles and get rid of all the things you really don’t need. using large garbage bags, separate your stuff into “garbage,” “recycle” and “give away.”
a = arrange
everything needs a place of its own. when you know where things go, it’s easy to put them away and find them again. choose appropriate storage containers and make a place for what is left, keeping everything that is the same together.
r = revisit
maintain the clarity that you’ve created. don’t let things pile up, put things back in their places when you are done using them.
organize your stuff
get clear about your life
